Supreme Court Overturns Government’s One-Door Advertising Policy

On Ashar 30, 2083, the Supreme Court overturned the government’s decision to implement a one-door system for publishing government advertisements.

The court’s decision was made by a bench of two justices, Sharanga Subedi and Nripdhwoj Niraula, on Tuesday.

The current government had decided to publish and broadcast government advertisements only through government media.

A circular issued by the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers’ Office was deemed unfavorable to public and private media, prompting the Nepal Media Society to appeal to the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court has ordered the cancellation of the circular issued by the Prime Minister’s Office.
