Community Guidelines

Niriv is built by Nepalis, for Nepalis. These guidelines exist to help maintain a digital space where everyone feels welcome, respected, and safe.

1. Our Community Values

• Respect for diverse perspectives and backgrounds
• Constructive and thoughtful dialogue
• Support for Nepali content creators and businesses
• Protection of user safety and privacy
• Celebration of Nepali culture and language

2. Be Respectful

Treat others with kindness.

• Use respectful language in comments, articles, and interactions
• Listen to different perspectives and engage constructively
• Avoid personal attacks, insults, or inflammatory rhetoric
• Remember there is a real person behind every username

No discrimination.

We do not tolerate content that promotes or encourages discrimination on the basis of:

• Race, ethnicity, or caste
• Religion or belief system
• Gender or sexual orientation
• Age, disability, or health status
• Socioeconomic status

3. Prohibited Content

The following categories of content will be removed:

Illegal activities

• Content promoting illegal acts (drugs, weapons, fraud)
• Copyright infringement or piracy
• Any content that violates the laws of Nepal

Harmful or dangerous content

• Self-harm or suicide-related content
• Violence or graphic content
• Malware, phishing, or scams
• False medical advice that could cause harm

Spam and misleading content

• Repeated promotional posts without disclosure
• Fake news or intentionally misleading information
• Pyramid schemes or get-rich-quick scams
• Clickbait with no substantial content

Adult or sexual content

• Pornographic material
• Sexually explicit images or descriptions
• Content involving minors in any sexual context

4. Content Standards for Writers

Quality and originality

• Write original, well-researched articles
• Credit sources and include citations
• Use proper grammar, spelling, and formatting
• Make content valuable, informative, or entertaining

Accurate information

• Verify facts before publishing
• Distinguish clearly between opinion and factual reporting
• Correct errors promptly when discovered
• Use reliable sources and data

Respectful reporting

• Respect the privacy of individuals, unless they are public figures
• Obtain permission before using photos or videos
• Be sensitive to cultural and religious contexts
• Avoid defamatory or slanderous statements

5. Commenting Guidelines

Encouraged:

• Add value with your comments
• Ask thoughtful questions
• Share your perspective respectfully
• Provide helpful information or corrections
• Support fellow community members

Not permitted:

• Spam or irrelevant content
• Personal attacks on authors or other commenters
• Hate speech or discriminatory remarks
• Fake news or conspiracy theories
• Unauthorized promotion

6. Intellectual Property

Respect copyright.

• Only publish content you own or have permission to use
• Properly attribute images, quotes, and sources
• Do not republish entire articles without permission
• Use royalty-free or properly licensed images

Report infringement.

If you believe your content has been used without permission, contact legal@niriv.com with:

• The URL of the infringing content
• Proof of your ownership
• Your contact information

7. Privacy and Safety

Protect your own privacy.

• Avoid sharing personal information (phone number, address, email) publicly
• Exercise caution when meeting people from online communities
• Use strong, unique passwords
• Report suspicious behavior immediately

Respect others’ privacy.

• Do not share private messages without consent
• Never post another person’s personal information
• Respect people’s right to control their digital identity

8. Reporting and Moderation

How to report:

1. Click the “Report” button on the content
2. Select the reason for your report
3. Add any additional context, if helpful
4. Submit your report

Our moderation team reviews reports within 24 hours (48 hours on weekends).

Moderation actions. Depending on severity, we may:

• Remove the content
• Issue a warning to the user
• Temporarily restrict account privileges
• Permanently ban the account
• Report the matter to law enforcement, if illegal activity is involved

9. Consequences for Violations

Warning system:

Immediate ban offenses. The following result in immediate, permanent removal from the platform:

• Threats of violence or harm
• Illegal content (including child abuse material or terrorism-related content)
• Repeated spam or scams
• Identity theft or impersonation

10. Appeal Process

If you believe content was removed or account action was taken incorrectly:

1. Contact moderation@niriv.com within 7 days
2. Provide details about the action taken (date, content URL)
3. Explain why you believe the action was incorrect
4. Include any relevant supporting evidence

We review appeals within 3–5 business days and will notify you of our decision.

11. Nepali Language Support

We celebrate and encourage the use of the Nepali language across the platform:

• All languages — Nepali, English, Hindi, and local dialects — are welcome
• We do not discriminate on the basis of language preference
• Respectful code-switching between languages is natural and encouraged

12. Special Considerations

News and current events

• Verify information before sharing breaking news
• Distinguish clearly between opinion and reporting
• Exercise sensitivity during crisis situations
• Do not spread panic or misinformation

Religious and cultural content

• Respect all religious and cultural beliefs
• Engage in constructive dialogue about traditions
• Avoid disrespectful stereotypes or generalizations
• Remain open to learning and respectful criticism

13. Commercial Activity

Authorized promotion

• Niriv Advertising is the official platform for paid promotion
• Unauthorized promotional content may be removed
• Always disclose when content is sponsored or affiliated

Direct commerce

• Be transparent about the products or services you sell
• Provide accurate pricing and availability information
• Honor commitments made to customers

14. Updates to These Guidelines

These guidelines may be updated to reflect changes in our community, our services, or applicable legal requirements. When we make changes, we will:

• Post updates on this page with a revised “Last Updated” date
• Notify active users of significant changes by email
• Continue to enforce the spirit of these guidelines consistently
