As of Ashar 30, the Hetauda-Kathmandu highways have been restricted from nighttime vehicle movement. According to the Makwanpur District Administration Office, the Hetauda-Bhaise-Kathmandu and Hetauda-Kathmandu highways via Kanti will be closed from Tuesday evening at 6:30 pm to Wednesday morning at 5:00 am.

The administration has made this decision considering the risk of flooding and landslides. Since Ashar 28, the continuous rainfall has caused flooding, landslides, and increased water flow in the rivers and streams of the district. The weather forecast also suggests a high probability of further rainfall.

Risk Factors

Several factors have contributed to this decision, including the risk of flash floods and landslides in the Bagjhor area, the ongoing repair work of the Beli Bridge in Bhimphedi, and the damage caused by flooding to the diversion route. Additionally, the road section from Hetauda to Bhimphedi-Sisneri-Kathmandu is prone to landslides and rockfalls during rainfall.

The administration has stated that the restriction on nighttime vehicle movement is aimed at ensuring the safety of travelers and reducing the risk of road accidents.
