Nepali Congress MP Pramila Kumari Gachchhadar has stated that the obstruction caused by suspiciously parked vehicles at the gates of media houses is an attack on freedom of speech.

Speaking at the House of Representatives meeting, she said, ‘The planned move to intimidate the civilian sector by parking suspicious vehicles at the gates of media houses and the residence of Nepali Congress President Gagan Thapa is a direct attack on the civilian sector. This is an attack on freedom of speech.’

On Monday morning, vehicles were suspiciously parked in front of the offices of Onlinekhabar, Himalaya TV, and Kantipur Media House, obstructing the entrance. The vehicles were parked in a similar manner, causing obstruction. After the suspicious parking, the media houses informed the police.

Following this, the police visited the three media houses and searched for the vehicle owners. However, the police have not yet identified who was behind the incident.

The incident of suspicious parking causing obstruction to the movement of media personnel has been raised in the parliament. Congress MP Gachchhadar has termed it as a suppressive policy against civic freedom.
