Lawmaker Vyasman Pun has expressed fear of government retaliation for speaking out on public issues, stating that he is afraid of being targeted at his home. He made this statement while discussing the passport contract controversy at a meeting of the Public Accounts Committee.

Pun emphasized the importance of addressing issues raised by the public while respecting the boundaries and jurisdiction of the Constitution. He warned that failure to do so would undermine the strength of democratic institutions.

The lawmaker also expressed concern that the government’s actions are limiting democracy. He stated that the issue at hand is not just about who is affected today, but rather the alarming trend of suppressing free speech.

Pun stressed that in a democratic system, the freedom to speak and express oneself must be guaranteed. He also noted that power should not be concentrated in the hands of one individual or entity.
