Floods caused by continuous rainfall have submerged several settlements in the Gaidakot area of eastern Nawalparasi.
Settlements in Ward No. 1’s Pragati Tol, Ward No. 4’s Jhapardi Tol, and Beldeha, among others, in the Gaidakot Municipality, have been affected by the floods. Locals report that dozens of homes have been inundated with water.
Dilli Raj Ghimire, a resident of Gaidakot 4, stated, ‘I have been living here for almost 55 years, but the water has never risen to this level. The floods are widespread.’
According to the police, a family of nine has been displaced in Beldeha. Meanwhile, the Armed Police Force (APF) Nepal No. 31 Gulmi (Eastern Nawalparasi) rescued and relocated the affected locals to a safe location with the help of local representatives.
The APF has warned of high alert due to the rising water levels in rivers and streams caused by the continuous rainfall. Several areas in Bharatpur Metropolitan City 11, Chitwan, have also been flooded.
