Sonam Wangchuk’s Three Conditions to End Hunger Strike

Social activist Sonam Wangchuk has made public the conditions for ending his hunger strike, stating that he will only stop if certain demands are met.

Wangchuk, who has been on an indefinite hunger strike in New Delhi, has listed three conditions for ending his protest. He has demanded that the government take responsibility for the recent failures in the education system, including the alleged NEET exam leak and the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

Wangchuk has also asked for an assurance from lawmakers and leaders of the Communist Party of India (CPI) that they will raise the issue of accountability in the education system in Parliament. Additionally, he has stated that if his health or other circumstances make it impossible to continue the hunger strike, he will end it if leaders from various parties visit him in the hospital and make a commitment to address the issue.

Wangchuk’s hunger strike has entered its 23rd day, and he has been hospitalized since July 18. His wife, Gitanjali Aangmo, has also stated that if political leaders assure her that they will take up the issue of accountability in the education system in Parliament, her husband will end his hunger strike.

The protesters have been demanding the resignation of the central education minister, action against those responsible for the NEET exam leak, and an end to irregularities in the education sector.
