Nepal’s Communist Movement Needs to Move Forward with New Energy

Nepal’s Communist Party co-chair and former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal has stated that the Nepali communist movement needs to move forward with new energy.

Speaking at an event organized at the party’s central office in Parisdanda on Saturday to mark the 13th memorial day of Nar Bahadur Karmacharya, a founding member of the Nepal Communist Party, Nepal acknowledged that the communist movement has faced some setbacks in recent times.

‘We are now in a situation where we have to face some setbacks,’ he said, ‘but we need to learn from our mistakes and move forward with new energy, new determination, and new enthusiasm.’

Nepal emphasized the importance of preserving historical events and documents. He recalled how important records were destroyed during the Jhapa movement when his own home was set on fire.

‘I had kept many materials safe, but many were burnt, some were left behind. Most of the materials related to Comrade Prachanda were burnt. But some family members and neighbors took great risks to save some materials, which are still available today,’ Nepal said.

Discussing Nar Bahadur Karmacharya’s contribution, Nepal said that Karmacharya played an unforgettable role in keeping the party alive even during the banned period since the establishment of the Communist Party in 2006 BS.
