Rasuwa’s high-altitude and hilly areas have started producing Barke potatoes, which have now reached the market.

Since the beginning of Ashar, traders have been visiting farmers’ homes to buy potatoes. Farmers are selling potatoes at a rate of Rs 120 per pathi.

According to Yopasang Thokra Tamang, a potato producer, the good market price has encouraged farmers. Another farmer, Ramkaji Thokra, said that the production was good this year due to the timely winter rain.

Janardan Nyoupande, a consumer from Nuwakot, said that the potatoes produced using organic manure are delicious and of good quality, which is why he consumes potatoes from Rasuwa throughout the year.

Rasuwa’s areas such as Yarsa, Bhare, Ramche, Dhunche, Hakku, Nesing, Gare, Bharkhu, Syaphru, Briddhim, Timure, Thuman, Chilime, and Gatlang are known for commercial potato production.

Compared to last year, potato production has increased, and it is now being consumed not only within the district but also in other areas like Nuwakot, Dhading, and Kathmandu.
