Protests Continue Outside Temple Where Dr. Govinda KC is on Hunger Strike

Protests are ongoing outside the Krishna Temple in Dhangadhi, where Dr. Govinda KC is on his 24th day of hunger strike. Dr. KC, a professor, has been demanding that the government address his five-point demands.

Dr. KC’s health is deteriorating, with his blood pressure at 110/90 and blood sugar levels at 50. Doctors have advised him to be admitted to the ICU at the Seti Provincial Hospital for immediate treatment.

However, Dr. KC has expressed his intention to think over the suggestion. His supporters claim that his health is worsening, with muscle weakness, difficulty speaking, and trouble walking due to pressure on his legs.

Education and Sports Minister Sashmit Pokharel has stated that the government is ready to address Dr. KC’s demands. On Friday evening, Minister Pokharel spoke with Dr. KC over the phone, assuring him that the government is committed to addressing his concerns.

Dr. KC has demanded the immediate operation of a 300-bed hospital at the Martyr Dasharath Chand Health Science University, the commencement of medical education, and the cancellation of the appointment of the vice-chancellor and registrar, which he claims was made with vested interests.

In response, Minister Pokharel has promised to form a negotiation team to address Dr. KC’s demands and may visit Dhangadhi himself if necessary.
