Police in Dhankuta have arrested two individuals with a large quantity of cannabis. The arrests were made on Friday night in Sangurigadhi Municipality.
According to the District Police Office, Dhankuta, a police team from the Bhedetar Area Police Office stopped a tempo (three-wheeled vehicle) with license plate number Ko2Ha 125 for a routine check in Mandawa Tol of Sangurigadhi Municipality-2.
Upon inspection, police found 71 kilograms 35 grams of cannabis packed in five plastic containers. The driver of the tempo, 31-year-old Shikhar Limbu from Sangurigadhi Municipality-2, and Madan Yakha, 32, from Sangurigadhi Municipality-3, who was following on a motorcycle, were taken into custody.
Police have also seized the tempo, a Pulsar motorcycle with license plate number Pr 1-04-00-1 4791, a Redmi mobile phone belonging to Limbu, and a Kipad mobile phone belonging to Yakha.
The District Police Office, Dhankuta, has stated that both individuals are being investigated under the Narcotic Drugs Control Act.
