Paddy plantation in Jhapa has reached 77% completion so far, according to the District Agriculture Knowledge Centre.

By Shrawan 4, a total of 77% of the land in the district has been covered with paddy plantation, the centre said.

Sagar Bishwakarma, chief of the District Agriculture Knowledge Centre, Jhapa, said that compared to the same period last year, paddy plantation has increased by about 11% this year.

Initially, the lack of rainfall had affected the plantation, but after the continuous rainfall since the second week of Ashar, farmers have been actively engaged in plantation.

"Initially, the plantation was slow due to the lack of rainfall. But after the continuous rainfall since the second week of Ashar, plantation is now being carried out rapidly across the district," Bishwakarma said.

He added that plantation is being carried out rapidly in the Gauriganj area of the district, and it is expected that paddy plantation will be completed in most of the fields by the end of Shrawan.

According to the District Agriculture Knowledge Centre, paddy is cultivated in around 75,459 hectares of land in Jhapa every year.
