Nepal’s struggles in foreign conditions continued as they suffered an 8-wicket defeat against Namibia in the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 match in the Netherlands.
Nepal, who were asked to bat first after losing the toss, were bowled out for 157 runs in 38.5 overs. In response, Namibia chased down the target with ease, losing just two wickets in the process.
Nepal’s batting unit failed to impress, with only a few players managing to score in double digits. The team’s captain, Rohit Paudel, attributed the loss to Namibia’s strong bowling and Nepal’s poor batting performance.
Namibia’s JJ Smit was the star of the show, taking six wickets for just 27 runs in 9.5 overs. Nepal’s Sandeep Lamichhane was the only bowler who managed to take a wicket, dismissing Namibia’s Alexander Busing for 2 runs.
Nepal’s loss has dealt a blow to their chances of finishing in the top four of the league. They currently have 24 points from 29 matches and are placed fifth in the table.
Nepal will next face the Netherlands on Thursday, and captain Rohit Paudel has promised to come up with a better plan to tackle the opposition.
