Nepal Football Association Takes Responsibility for Injured Player’s Treatment

The All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) has taken full responsibility for the treatment and rehabilitation of injured U-23 national team player Ashish Rai.

Rai suffered a serious injury to his right leg during a friendly match against China’s Yunan team on February 15, 2025. He was initially treated at Star Hospital and later referred to B&B Hospital for further treatment.

ANFA has been bearing the cost of Rai’s treatment, including his recent trip to Thailand for specialized care. The association has also been providing him with regular follow-up check-ups and rehabilitation sessions.

However, due to ANFA’s international suspension and the subsequent ban on its bank accounts, the association has been facing difficulties in providing Rai with the necessary financial support for his treatment.

ANFA has assured that it will continue to take care of Rai’s treatment and rehabilitation costs, despite the current challenges. The association has also stated that it will resume its support for Rai as soon as the suspension is lifted.

Rai’s treatment has been ongoing for 17 months, and he is expected to undergo further surgery to remove a metal plate from his leg. His doctors have advised that he will need at least a year to recover fully and that it is uncertain whether he will be able to return to playing football.
