Nepal Congress parliamentary party leader Bhisma Raj Angdembe has called for an end to authoritarianism and anti-democratic thoughts in Nepali politics.
In a message on the occasion of Sisè:khpà Tàngnam, a festival celebrated by the Limbu community, Angdembe said that just as people bid farewell to evil spirits and bad luck during the festival, it is time for Nepali politics to bid farewell to anti-democratic thoughts, oppression, injustice, and corruption.
Angdembe expressed concern over the increasing trend of authoritarianism in the country, saying that it is affecting the rights of citizens and suppressing the voices of the marginalized and poor.
He emphasized that the people should be at the center of democracy and that the state should recognize the people as the source of sovereignty.
Angdembe also highlighted the importance of festivals like Sisè:khpà Tàngnam and Saur Sankranti in promoting respect for nature, the value of labor, coexistence, and prosperity.
