Several celebrities from the film industry have condemned the police action against students and supporters of the Karki Chhoriya Janata Party during the ‘Sansad March’ on Monday.
Veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah has also come out in support of the students. He has urged them not to lose heart, saying that many people are sympathetic to their cause.
Shah released a video on Instagram, saying, ‘I have learned more about acting from these children, whom I have tried to teach, than from any acting course. My entire sympathy is with them, and I wish them well on every Teachers’ Day and salute them.’
Shah further stated, ‘At this time, my heart is full. Seeing the atrocities being committed against our children makes me angry. The way students are being treated is reminiscent of the Ice Agents in America, who used to carry sticks and wear masks. Think about your children and the consequences you will face one day.’
He added, ‘I want to tell these children not to lose heart. Many people are sympathetic to your cause. I have always had hope in the youth of this country, and now that hope has been fulfilled. I want to tell the government of this country that everything will be remembered.’
Earlier, several celebrities, including Sonakshi Sinha, Preity Zinta, Sonu Sood, Diljit Dosanjh, Riteish Deshmukh, Bhumi Pednekar, and Genelia, had expressed their support for the students.
