Madhes Province Collects Rs 32.88 Billion in Revenue

Madhes Province has collected nearly Rs 33 billion in revenue in the fiscal year 2082/83, meeting 70% of its target.

According to the Ministry of Finance, the province collected Rs 32.88 billion in revenue in the last fiscal year, with internal revenue collection amounting to Rs 5.76 billion.

Revenue Sources

The province collected Rs 1.77 billion from land registration and Rs 2.27 billion from vehicle taxes. Additionally, it collected Rs 795.6 million from the distribution of vehicle permits and Rs 126.9 million from traffic fines.

The province also collected Rs 201.5 million from the sale of lottery tickets and Rs 8.86 billion from value-added tax (VAT). Furthermore, it received Rs 7.06 billion in equalization grants and Rs 2.17 billion in conditional grants from the federal government.

Challenges

According to the Ministry of Finance, the province’s revenue collection was affected by various factors, including a decline in land and vehicle transactions due to economic liquidity, and damage to revenue collection agencies during the Jejani movement on Bhadra 23 and 24.
