Nepali Congress President Gagan Thapa has criticized the current political leadership, saying it lacks restraint and foresight.

Speaking at the ‘Green Run’ event organized on Tuesday to mark the memorial day of BP Koirala, Thapa made a satirical comment on the government and opposition, saying ‘a car without brakes is like the government, and a run without brakes is like the opposition.’

Thapa pledged to follow in the footsteps of Jananayak BP Koirala, moving forward with determination and unwavering commitment.

He stated that the Nepali Congress will revive BP Koirala’s ideas on social justice, inclusivity, and fair use of natural resources in the current context.

Thapa announced that the party has started discussions with experts to make climate change a key agenda for Nepal’s development and will incorporate the suggestions received into policy-making.

He also informed that the Congress has established a ‘Humanitarian Welfare Fund’ and has collected 1 million rupees initially, which will be spent on supporting displaced families, especially single women and children who have been deprived of education.

Thapa emphasized that the ‘Green Run’ is not just an awareness program but the beginning of a new social campaign, and the Congress will launch a nationwide new campaign on Thursday.
