A consumer court has ruled that Everest Hospital in Kathmandu and Dr. Jyotsna Sharma, a gynecologist, were negligent in their treatment, resulting in the death of a patient, Manita Sharma of Gothatar, Kathmandu, during childbirth.
The court has ordered the hospital and Dr. Sharma to pay a compensation of Rs 3.9 million to the victim’s family.
The incident had raised concerns about the quality of medical care provided by the hospital and the expertise of its medical staff.
