The Tokha Municipality has launched the ‘Unified Metric Address System’ with the aim of making homes and buildings in the municipality organized and secure.
Mayor Prakash Adhikari inaugurated the ‘Unified Metric Address System’, which was created to make it easier to identify houses and streets. Mayor Adhikari stated that the system was launched as part of the municipality’s efforts to make Tokha a technology-friendly municipality.
The system, which was initially launched in Ward 9 of Tokha, will be implemented in all 11 wards of the municipality. According to Mayor Adhikari, the system will make it easier to find house addresses, and during emergencies, it will be easier to send ambulances, fire trucks, and other equipment.
The system provides a unique identification number to each house based on its geographical location and distance from the starting point of the street. According to Basant Pathak, head of the municipality’s information department, the system determines the address of a house based on its distance from the starting point of the street.
This will make it easier for unknown individuals or service providers to find any house or building. According to a three-year study, 28,646 buildings, 26,616 houses, and 296 kilometers of roads have been mapped in Tokha. Although there are more than 26,000 houses in Tokha, the system will initially be implemented in 19,000 houses.
With the implementation of the system, it will be easier for ambulances, fire trucks, and police to reach the relevant houses on time. The system will also make it easier to integrate services such as map management, revenue collection, and disaster management, making them more effective.
Additionally, the system will provide necessary data for businesses, and it will be easier to deliver goods. Ram Bhakti Ghimire, ward chairman of Tokha-9, expressed his confidence that the system will contribute to establishing Tokha as a modern and organized city.
