Lawmakers attending the Parliament’s meeting today drew the government’s attention to disaster risk reduction and control, urging it to protect people’s lives.

MP Karishma Khatiwada mentioned the recent landslide in Doti’s Sayal Rural Municipality, which has disrupted people’s lives, and requested the government to relocate the affected families to a safe location.

MP Prem Bahadur Bayak asked for relief arrangements for the victims of floods in districts like Kalikot, Jajarkot, and Kailali, which have been severely affected by continuous rainfall.

MP Aain Bahadur Mahar requested the government to present its plan to reduce disaster risk caused by natural disasters.

MP Pramila Kumari Gachchhadar asked for proper management of the ‘holding center’ in Kirtipur, where people have been displaced, and also demanded justice for Majid Ansari, who was allegedly beaten by the police.

MP Gangadevi Shrestha highlighted the problems faced by the public due to power outages and requested the government to introduce a program to address the issue.

MP Shambhu Prasad Yadav pointed out that the haphazard excavation of roads in local levels has led to disasters and mentioned the incident in Siraha where three children died after drowning in a pit created by such excavation.

MP Shriram Nyaupane requested the government to ensure 320 working days and a 24-hour multi-shift system in the upcoming fiscal year for the country’s rapid development.

MP Ninukumari Karn asked for action against those involved in the alleged discriminatory behavior towards actress Kajal Karn, citing her Madhesi background.
