Lawmakers in the House of Representatives have demanded the immediate solution to the problems faced by the Sukumbasi people and proper management of their issues.
As the House of Representatives meeting began, opposition party lawmakers stood up from their seats to protest, and Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal gave them time to speak on the Sukumbasi problem and other current issues.
Lawmaker Ganesh Singh Thagunna drew the government’s attention to the need to address the Sukumbasi problem immediately. He also demanded that Prime Minister Walendra Shah (Balen) withdraw his recent statement on border issues from the parliamentary record.
Lawmaker Ramesh Kumar Mall expressed his sorrow over the behavior of the metropolitan police towards Ganesh Nepali, who had committed self-immolation a few days ago, and stated that the government and all concerned parties must be aware to prevent such incidents from happening again.
Lawmaker Airen Rai commented that the Prime Minister’s statement on the border dispute was wrong and requested the government to work in favor of the country’s workers, the poor, and the Sukumbasi people.
Lawmaker Gyan Bahadur Shahi stated that the basis of the common people’s survival should not be taken away and demanded action against those involved in encouraging Ganesh Nepali’s self-immolation through rough behavior.
Lawmaker Nishkal Rai stated that accountability and the right to question are the essence of democracy, and it is not possible to impose any kind of restriction on the people’s freedom of expression. He also stated that the government should be sensitive to the incident in which a citizen was forced to lose his life.
