Home Minister Sudhan Gurung and the Meter Byaz victims have agreed to make public the reports of three commissions. The agreement was reached during a meeting between the Home Minister and the victims in Nijgadh on Tuesday.

The government had formed various commissions to investigate the Meter Byaz issue, including those led by Gauri Bahadur Karki, Tej Bahadur Karki, and Baburam Regmi. Although the commissions had submitted their reports, the government had kept them confidential.

Home Minister Gurung has directed the Ministry officials to make public the reports of all three commissions, according to Laxmi Ghimire, a central member of the Meter Byaz Victims’ Struggle Committee.

The third round of talks between the Home Minister and the victims will continue, Ghimire said. Home Minister Gurung had reached Nijgadh on Tuesday. Two rounds of talks have already been held between the victims and the Home Minister.

Discussions are ongoing at the Prime Minister’s Office regarding the six-point demand of the Meter Byaz victims. The next round of talks will begin after the discussions are concluded, Ghimire said. The victims will continue their agitation if a written agreement is not reached on the demand letter, she added.

The Meter Byaz victims had started a march from Janakpur to Kathmandu on Ashar 29, 2083. After reaching Nijgadh, Home Minister Gurung himself initiated the talks.
