According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the highest amount of rainfall in the past 24 hours has been recorded in the Narayani area of Chitwan.

A study conducted at 335 rainfall measurement centers across the country from Sunday morning to Monday morning found that 243 centers received rainfall, including 45 manual and 290 automatic centers.

According to the details, the highest amount of rainfall, 319.8 mm, was recorded at the Narayani Field Office center in Chitwan district. More than 200 mm of rainfall was also recorded at three other centers in the surrounding area, and more than 100 mm of rainfall was recorded at 23 centers across the country.

Due to the heavy rainfall, areas around Bharatpur in Chitwan are currently flooded.

Meanwhile, disaster management expert Ujjwal Upadhyay has informed that the monsoon low-pressure line has been moving towards the central and eastern Tarai since Sunday night.

Upadhyay stated that the continuous rainfall in the Kathmandu Valley and surrounding areas has stopped since Sunday night, and today’s weather is expected to be slightly clearer and warmer compared to Sunday.

According to Upadhyay, due to heavy rainfall, the risk of flooding in areas around the Saptakoshi and Narayani rivers is expected to remain high until midday today.
