The Burthibang–Phalleghar section of the Saljhandi–Dhorpatan road, a national priority project, has been blacktopped after five years. The 22-kilometer road was supposed to be completed within 30 months, but the construction company delayed the work, and the deadline was extended four times.

The road was contracted to Swachchhand–Om Buddha JBV, Kathmandu, on November 20, 2078, with a deadline to complete the blacktopping by May 2080. However, the company failed to meet the deadline, and the project was extended several times.

The road was finally blacktopped at a cost of Rs 25.61 crores, according to Pariksha Poudel, information officer of the Saljhandi–Dhorpatan road project. Poudel said that the blacktopping has improved the road condition, making it easier for travelers to commute between Dhorpatan and Phalleghar.

Thaman Bahadur Gharti, a resident of Dhorpatan Municipality–9, said that the blacktopping has reduced the travel time from Burthibang Bazaar to Phalleghar from two and a half hours to just 45 minutes. Gharti added that the improved road condition has also made it easier for tourists to visit the area.

Dhan Bahadur Kayat (Kalyan), deputy chief of Dhorpatan Municipality, said that the blacktopping of the road will also facilitate the marketing of local agricultural products such as apples, potatoes, and simi. Kayat added that the improved road condition will also promote tourism in the area.
