A 71-year-old woman has undergone successful surgery to remove a rare tumor from her brain at a hospital in Kathmandu.

The tumor, which was located near the woman’s brain artery, was removed by a team of doctors led by neurosurgeon Dr. Pawan Bahadur Bhandari at the Neuro International Hospital in Thapathali.

According to Dr. Bhandari, the woman had been suffering from a lump on her neck for 21 years, which had been growing in size over time. The tumor was discovered to be a rare vascular tumor that had originated from the blood vessels near the brain artery.

Complex Surgery

The surgery, which lasted for seven hours, was a complex procedure due to the location and nature of the tumor. Dr. Bhandari said that the tumor was extremely rare and required a high level of expertise to remove.

The woman had previously undergone two failed attempts at surgery at other hospitals, and had been suffering from various health problems, including difficulty breathing, numbness in her body, and frequent headaches.

After the successful surgery, the woman was discharged from the hospital and is currently undergoing follow-up treatment. Her family expressed relief and gratitude to the medical team for their expertise and care.
