Nepali Congress leader Dr Shekhar Koirala has stated that the party has become authoritarian. Dr Koirala made this comment while addressing a programme organised by the Congress establishment faction to mark the 44th memorial day of BP Koirala at the Pragya Bhawan on Wednesday.
‘I feel that the Nepali Congress is also being run in an authoritarian manner,’ Dr Koirala said. He cited the example of ward presidents being removed without explanation or inquiry, saying that this kind of behaviour is unacceptable.
‘Because the Nepali Congress was born to end authoritarianism, we cannot tolerate this,’ he said. ‘Authoritarianism is being born within the Nepali Congress, and it is essential for us to put an end to it.’
Dr Koirala urged party president Gagan Thapa to take the issue of party management and unity seriously.
