A meeting was held between the President of the Catalan Parliament, Josep Rull, and representatives of immigrant communities from 11 countries, including Nepal.
The event, which took place at the Parliament building last Monday, was attended by consular representatives and leaders of various immigrant communities.
Participants discussed the parliamentary system of Catalonia, the role of the Parliament, and various issues related to the immigrant community with President Rull.
President Rull expressed that the Parliament is a shared institution for all who live in Catalonia, and that it is committed to strengthening democratic practices through continuous dialogue with citizens and communities.
After the meeting, President Rull gave the participants a tour of the Parliament building, providing information on its history, structure, and various meeting rooms.
He also explained how parliamentary sessions are conducted, how seats are allocated to members of parliament, and how the Parliament operates and makes decisions.
Nepali Community Representation
The Nepali community was represented by Santosh Shrestha, President of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) Spain, social leader Gangaprasad Bhushal, Dinesh Giri, and journalist Basant Ranabhat.
During the meeting, NRNA Spain President Shrestha handed over a memorandum to President Rull, which highlighted the situation, contributions, and issues related to the Nepali community in Catalonia.
According to representatives of the local political party ‘Junts per Catalunya’, the purpose of the event was to provide direct information to representatives of various immigrant communities about Catalonia’s parliamentary system, democratic practices, and the role of the Parliament, as well as to promote mutual dialogue and cooperation.
