A vehicle with license plate number Ba Province-01 034 Ch 8480, which was suspiciously parked in front of the Kantipur Media Group office in Kathmandu on Ashar 29, 2083, was used by Home Minister Sudhan Gurung to attend the Rashtriya Swatantra Party’s (RSP) national convention in Chitwan.
The vehicle, a black Jeep brand J Sixty, was seen escorting the Home Minister on Ashar 29 and 30, according to video footage obtained by Online Khabar.
On Ashar 14, the same vehicle was used by the Home Minister to travel from Hetauda to Pathalaiya in Bara, according to a police officer in Bara who wished to remain anonymous.
The officer stated that the Home Minister did not provide any official information about his visit, but the police became aware of the vehicle’s details after he arrived.
Online Khabar contacted the owner of the vehicle, Ravi Jaysawal, but his phone was out of service.
The Home Minister’s personal secretary, James Karki, confirmed that the Home Minister had used the vehicle on multiple occasions, including during the RSP’s national convention in Chitwan.
Karki stated that the Home Minister had used the vehicle because his own vehicle was not available at the time.
Ravi Jaysawal is a leader of the RSP and is close to the Home Minister.
The incident has been condemned by the RSP, with its general secretary, Biplab Kumar Acharya, issuing a statement expressing strong objection to the incident.
RSP chairman Rabi Lamichhane has also stated that action will be taken against anyone involved in the incident.
It remains to be seen what action the RSP will take and what legal action will be taken against those involved in the incident.
RSP lawmaker Manish Jha has hinted that the incident may have been carried out by individuals protected by the government.
