Nepal Forms Talks Team to Address Concerns of Those Affected by Usury

The government has formed a talks team to address the concerns of citizens affected by usury.

According to a decision made by the Council of Ministers, the team will be led by Pushkar Sapkota, Secretary at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers.

Information and Communications Minister Vikram Thapa informed that the decision was made during a meeting of the Council of Ministers held at Singha Durbar today (Thursday).

The talks team will comprise joint-secretaries from the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Land Management, Cooperative and Poverty Alleviation, and the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration.

Meanwhile, the Nepal Rastra Bank has been given approval to mint new coins with denominations of one and two rupees.

The meeting also decided to accept a grant of 1.81 million US dollars from the Korean government to establish a pilot system for Nepal’s legal information.

The Council of Ministers also made a decision to allow the removal of additional trees and poles from national forest areas within protected areas, following the completion of the necessary legal procedures.

Furthermore, the organizational structure and staffing of various ministries have been approved.

The meeting also approved the Policy Research Institute Development Committee (First Amendment) Order, 2083.

Additionally, the meeting decided to approve arrangements for the management of employees working under service contracts.
