The Ministry of Education, Science, and Sports held talks with education consultancy operators on Wednesday to discuss the problems, challenges, and policy reforms in the sector.

The meeting comes as the operators have been protesting the government’s recently introduced ‘Education Consultancy, Language Teaching and Coaching Class (Operation and Management) Regulations, 2083’.

According to the ministry, Education Minister Sashmit Pokharel, who is also the government spokesperson, called the meeting to make the education consultancy sector more organized, transparent, and effective.

The meeting was attended by representatives of various organizations, including the Nepal Education Consultancy Association (IECA), the Federation of Education Consultancies (FEC), the Active Education Consultancy Association (AECA), the Education Consultancy Business Association (ECBA), the Japan Language School Association (JALSA), the Nepal Association of Australian Education Representatives (NAER), the National Education Consultancy Association (NECA), and others.

During the meeting, the current state of the consultancy business, the problems faced by the private sector, the promotion of quality education consultancy services, policy reforms, and regulatory arrangements were discussed, according to a press note issued by the minister’s secretariat.
