Buddha Air has introduced a new ATR 72-600 aircraft, which is expected to start operations from next month after completing the necessary procedures.
The aircraft, which was brought in from Toulouse, France, is equipped with a full glass cockpit, modern navigation system, digital flight management, and advanced safety features.
The ATR 72-600 series is considered environmentally friendly due to its low fuel consumption.
Advanced Navigation System
The aircraft is equipped with an RNAV-GNSS Approach (RNP-AR) system, which allows it to land safely at Kathmandu and Bhairahawa airports even in visibility as low as 900 meters.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal is also studying the implementation of RNP-AR-based flight procedures at Pokhara International Airport.
If implemented, the system will enable Buddha Air’s aircraft to operate safely even in visibility as low as 2000 meters.
Improved Safety and Reliability
Buddha Air believes that the introduction of the new aircraft will not only improve safety but also increase the reliability and quality of its services.
The airline currently operates one ATR 42-320, 15 ATR 72-500, and one ATR 72-600 aircraft.
Buddha Air plans to introduce another ATR 72-600 aircraft by the end of August and two more in the coming months.
