A 35-year-old woman has died after setting herself on fire in Dhangadhi, a city in western Nepal.
Jyoti Chaudhary, a resident of Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City-7, died on Sunday night while being taken to Kathmandu for treatment, according to the police.
Inspector Kailash Bista of the District Police Office said Chaudhary had poured petrol on her body and set herself on fire at her home on Saturday evening.
She was rescued by her family members and taken to the Seti Provincial Hospital, where doctors said about 60 percent of her body was burnt.
Chaudhary was initially taken to the Bhairahawa Hospital in Nepalgunj for treatment but her family decided to take her to Kathmandu.
Inspector Bista said Chaudhary died on the way to Kathmandu on Sunday night and her family informed the police on Monday morning at 7 am.
Her body has been kept at the Seti Provincial Hospital in Dhangadhi.
The police have started further investigation into the incident.
