Wild Elephant Under Surveillance After Tusk Removal

A wild elephant that has killed 25 people in Nepal’s Chitwan National Park is under close surveillance after its tusks were removed.

The elephant, known as Dhurbe, had its tusks cut off on Thursday night in an effort to reduce its aggression. A radio collar has been fitted to the elephant, which provides updates on its location every 10 minutes.

Dhurbe has been responsible for a series of attacks on humans, including the killing of two people on the night of Ashar 20, 2083. The elephant has been a major concern for the national park authorities, who have been trying to find ways to reduce its aggression.

This is not the first time that Dhurbe’s tusks have been removed. According to park officials, this is the fourth time that the elephant has undergone the procedure. The elephant’s tusks were cut off by 2 inches.

Surveillance and Precautions

Park officials are taking precautions to ensure that the elephant does not enter human settlements. If the elephant is spotted near a settlement, the park authorities will immediately inform the local community and deploy a team to safely escort the elephant back into the park.

The park’s chief conservation officer, Dil Bahadur Purja Pun, said that the authorities are taking extra precautions to prevent further incidents. He added that the park is home to around 45-50 elephants, including Dhurbe, Ronaldo, and Govinde.
