Kathmandu. The Tribhuvan University Central Campus Student Union has established a counselling unit in collaboration with the university’s psychology department.

The unit was established through a memorandum of understanding signed between the department and the student union on Friday. The agreement was signed by Sanjesh Shrestha, head of the psychology department, and Dipak Raj Joshi, chairman of the student union.

The unit will provide counselling services to students of the central campus, as well as students from other departments. The services will be provided by students studying psychology under the supervision of the department’s faculty members.

The student union chairman, Dipak Raj Joshi, said the unit was established to address the growing mental health problems among students, including stress, anxiety, and depression. He added that the unit would provide a safe and confidential space for students to share their problems and receive support.

The agreement also states that the student union will provide a room in its office premises for the counselling unit and will help to coordinate the programme in all departments. The department, on the other hand, will provide the necessary expertise and supervision for the unit.

The establishment of the counselling unit is expected to contribute positively to the mental health and well-being of students, as well as their academic and personal development.
