Tourist Numbers Surge in Banke National Park

Banke National Park has seen a significant surge in tourist numbers, with a 150% increase in visitors in the last fiscal year.

According to Chief Conservation Officer Virendra Prasad Kandel, 1,466 tourists visited the park in the fiscal year 2082/83, compared to 620 in the previous year and 444 in the year before that.

Kandel attributed the increase in tourist numbers to the park’s efforts to promote eco-tourism and provide better facilities for visitors. He also emphasized the importance of community involvement in promoting tourism, saying that it is crucial for the local economy.

The park has set a target of attracting 4,000 tourists in the next fiscal year, and Kandel is confident that this target can be achieved with the help of local communities and stakeholders.

Banke National Park is home to a diverse range of wildlife, including 25 adult tigers, as well as other species such as deer, birds, and reptiles. The park is also known for its natural beauty, with forests, grasslands, and wetlands providing a habitat for many different species.

Local tourism entrepreneurs have called for more investment in the park’s infrastructure, including hotels and homestays, to cater to the increasing number of tourists. They have also suggested offering special packages and discounts to attract more visitors.

The park’s authorities have emphasized the importance of sustainable tourism practices, saying that they are committed to protecting the park’s natural resources while also promoting tourism.

Banke National Park was established in 2067 Ashar 28 and is located about 16 kilometers from Nepalgunj airport.
