Sonam Wangchuk has expressed his willingness to end his hunger strike if the government provides a clear assurance to address his demands.

In a letter to JP Nadda and Jitendra Singh, Wangchuk stated that he would end his hunger strike and appeal to the students to call off their agitation and engage in dialogue with the government once he receives a positive response from the authorities.

Wangchuk’s letter mentioned that during their meeting at the hospital, they had assured him that the government would consider his demands positively.

Demands

Wangchuk’s demands include providing adequate compensation to the families of students who committed suicide after the paper leak, ensuring accountability through a meaningful discussion in Parliament, and considering the resignation of the Education Minister.

He also expressed hope that the government would not use police force to suppress the agitation.

Wangchuk has been on a hunger strike since June 28, demanding the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
