Rasuwa’s Timure Customs Point Struggles After Floods, Dry Port Construction Halted

Rasuwa’s Timure customs point has been struggling to recover from the devastating floods that hit the region a year ago. The floods, which occurred on Ashar 24, 2082, damaged the customs point’s infrastructure, including the warehouse, embankment, and parking area. The administration building, however, remained intact.

The construction of a dry port, which was being built by a Chinese company at a cost of over Rs 2.16 billion, has been halted due to the floods. The project, which was expected to be completed within 30 months, has been stalled for over a year now. The Chinese company has not resumed work on the project, and the Nepal government has not taken any initiative to revive it.

The Rasuwa customs point has been using a temporary bridge to facilitate trade and travel between Nepal and China. However, the bridge is not suitable for heavy vehicles, and traders have been facing difficulties in transporting goods.

The floods also damaged the customs point’s yard, where goods are stored and inspected. The yard has not been fully restored, and traders have been facing difficulties in storing and inspecting their goods.

The Rasuwa customs point is an important trade route between Nepal and China, and the damage caused by the floods has had a significant impact on trade and commerce in the region. The Nepal government needs to take immediate action to restore the customs point and revive the dry port project to facilitate trade and economic growth in the region.
