Paul Pelosi Charged Over Alleged Hit-and-Run Incident

Paul Pelosi, the husband of US politician Nancy Pelosi, has been charged with a misdemeanour hit-and-run offence.

The charge relates to an incident in Yountville, California, earlier this month in which Mr Pelosi allegedly hit a parked car and drove away.

The Napa County District Attorney’s Office has also issued Mr Pelosi with an infraction for an unlawful turning movement.

According to officials, the incident occurred when Mr Pelosi was driving a convertible and struck a parked car with no one inside.

Witnesses reported that Mr Pelosi stopped briefly before driving off, and his car was later found broken down on the side of the road.

When questioned by officers, Mr Pelosi admitted to hitting something but claimed he did not know what it was.

There was significant damage to the front right side of the parked car, consistent with the location of the impact.

Officers said Mr Pelosi was not under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.

He is due to appear in court on August 14.
