Karnali Province Congress parliamentary party has decided to vote in favour of a no-confidence motion against Chief Minister Yamlal Kandel.

The decision was made during a meeting of the parliamentary party led by Jeevan Bahadur Shahi on Wednesday, according to MP Bedraj Singh.

The Nepali Congress had withdrawn its support for Chief Minister Kandel on 31 Ashar, as part of its cooperation with the CPN.

Eleven CPN MPs and five Congress MPs had signed to withdraw their support.

A no-confidence motion is likely to be tabled in the provincial assembly meeting on Thursday, which if passed, would remove Chief Minister Kandel from his post.

The 40-member provincial assembly has 14 MPs each from the CPN and Congress.

Four ministers from the Congress had resigned on 31 Shrawan.

The Congress had withdrawn its support from the CPN the next day.

The CPN had already proposed Congress parliamentary party leader Jeevan Shahi as the new chief minister.
