Nepal’s Inland Revenue Office Collects Over 6 Billion Rupees in Revenue

The Inland Revenue Office in Janakpur has collected over 6 billion rupees in revenue in the fiscal year 2082/83, despite economic liquidity issues in the market.

According to Anand Kumar Gupta, chief of the Inland Revenue Office in Janakpur, the office was able to collect 88.49% of its revenue target through various campaigns, including intensifying old arrears collection and market monitoring.

In the fiscal year 2082/83, the office collected 2.55 billion rupees in customs duty, 2.68 billion rupees in income tax, and 1.28 billion rupees in value-added tax. Additionally, it collected 78.3 million rupees in interest tax, 52.5 million rupees in registration tax, 4.3 million rupees in health risk tax, and 340.8 million rupees in other taxes.

The office had set a revenue collection target of 6.85 billion rupees for the fiscal year 2082/83, and had collected 4.9 billion rupees in the previous fiscal year 2081/82.

According to Gupta, the office has over 173,000 taxpayers, including individuals and businesses. The office conducted various campaigns, including door-to-door visits, phone calls, and SMS reminders, to collect over 100 million rupees in old arrears.
