Nepalgunj High Court Clears Over 1,300 Cases

Nepalgunj High Court has cleared 1,354 cases out of 2,163 cases filed in the fiscal year 2082/83, achieving a clearance rate of 62.60%.

According to Justice Bamdev Gyawali, the court has successfully cleared all cases that were over two years old. The cleared cases include those related to inheritance, divorce, and criminal offenses such as murder, robbery, and banking crimes.

Justice Gyawali stated that only 15 cases that are over 18 months old are still pending, and the court aims to clear them by the end of Shrawan. He attributed the decline in the clearance rate to the four-month disruption in court proceedings due to the arson attack on the court during the Genzi movement on Bhadra 23 and 24.

The court has also completed the verification and certification of all burnt documents. A total of 753 burnt documents were verified and certified during the fiscal year.

Clearance Rate Declines

The clearance rate has declined compared to the previous two fiscal years. In the fiscal year 2080/81, the clearance rate was 71.41%, and in 2081/82, it was 75.74%. However, in the fiscal year 2082/83, the clearance rate dropped to 62.60%.

Justice Gyawali attributed the decline to the disruption in court proceedings due to the arson attack. He stated that the court aims to clear all pending cases as soon as possible.

Clearance Rate in Other Courts

In the fiscal year 2082/83, a total of 2,733 cases were cleared in the Banke District Court, and 1,312 cases were cleared in the Bardiya District Court.

The clearance rate in the Banke District Court was approximately 38.8%, with 2,733 cases cleared out of a total of 7,047 cases.
