A training institute in Nepal has been shut down by the authorities for issuing unauthorised certification to workers, particularly those seeking foreign employment.
The Industry Training Institute was sealed off on Wednesday by a joint monitoring team from the Ministry of Youth, Labour and Employment, the Ministry of Education and Sports, the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT), and the Department of Foreign Employment.
The action was taken following complaints that the institute was issuing certification in violation of the prescribed criteria, targeting workers seeking foreign employment.
During the monitoring process, it was found that the institute had seriously violated existing laws and criteria, despite having obtained permission from the CTEVT to provide only training.
The institute was found to have provided training in subjects other than those for which it had obtained permission, and had also issued certification without authorisation.
The monitoring team sealed off the institute’s office and took control of necessary documents and certificates for further study.
After studying the documents, the team will take further legal action against the institute.
