Nepal Sees Over 3,000 Disasters in Three Months, 160 Deaths

Nepal has witnessed a surge in disasters over the past three months, with 3,296 incidents reported across the country.

According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, these incidents have resulted in the deaths of 160 people, with two reported missing and 945 injured.

The authority reported that 4,375 families have been affected by the disasters, which include fires, snake bites, floods, and landslides.

Fires accounted for the majority of incidents, with 897 reported cases, resulting in 17 deaths, 109 injuries, and 990 families affected.

Snake bites were the second most common disaster, with 514 incidents reported, resulting in 38 deaths, 479 injuries, and 517 families affected.

Other disasters reported during this period include:

• 477 storms, resulting in 13 deaths, 68 injuries, and 1,356 families affected
• 433 landslides, resulting in 12 deaths, 15 injuries, and 351 families affected
• 223 floods, resulting in 24 deaths, 120 injuries, and 262 families affected
• 181 wildlife attacks, resulting in 17 deaths, 103 injuries, and 287 families affected
• 161 floods, resulting in nine deaths, two missing, nine injuries, and 396 families affected
• 153 heavy rainfall incidents, resulting in four deaths, one injury, and 132 families affected
• 55 lake-related incidents, resulting in 21 deaths and 35 injuries
• One incident of a landslide, resulting in two deaths
• 191 forest fires, resulting in one death and two injuries
• Two snow-related incidents, resulting in one death and one injury
