The Nepal School Management Federation has urged the government to reconsider its decision to declare Sundays as holidays for schools.

The federation held a press conference on Wednesday, stating that the decision would make it difficult to complete the annual curriculum and could have a negative impact on students’ academic achievements.

The government had previously decided to declare Sundays as holidays for government offices and schools to ease fuel supply.

Federation’s Concerns

Kashinath Dangal, president of the federation, stated that the decision would lead to a decrease in academic achievements and that the federation’s recent national convention had also proposed that schools should operate six days a week as before.

Dangal also accused the government of not consulting with the federation during the recent amendment of the education regulations and attempting to reduce the authority of school management committees.

Importance of Community Involvement

Gunaraj Muktan, former president of the federation, emphasized that undervaluing the role and existence of communities in schools is not appropriate.

The federation has requested the government to reconsider its decision and ensure that schools operate six days a week.
