Hotel Fined for Serving Expired Food to Travelers

A hotel in the Deukhuri area of Dang has been fined Rs 25,000 for serving expired food to travelers.

According to Padam Baral, chief of the Food Technology and Quality Control Office, the hotel, Purba Paschim Highway Hotel, was found to have stored unhealthy and expired food in its fridge.

A team from the office, led by Assistant Chief District Officer Savitra Puna, also found that the hotel had used artificial colors in cooked food, had an unsuitable structure for food storage, and had not displayed a price list.

The team also found that the hotel’s water tank had stagnant water and that there was a foul smell in the kitchen.

The hotel was fined Rs 25,000 after the team inspected seven hotels in the Deukhuri area on Friday.
