Nepal is set to face Kazakhstan in the Kavha Men’s Volleyball Championship, which kicked off in Islamabad, Pakistan. The match, scheduled to start at 10:45 am Nepali time, marks Nepal’s first participation in an FIVB-ranked tournament.
The Nepali team, led by captain Harihar Thapa, consists of a mix of experienced and young players. Six players will be making their debut in the national team, including Himal Sunari, a well-known player in Nepal’s domestic volleyball scene.
Hosts Pakistan and Kazakhstan are considered strong contenders in the tournament, which features six teams from Central Asia. Nepal is currently not ranked in the FIVB world rankings, while Kazakhstan is ranked 64th and Pakistan is ranked 49th.
Kazakhstan recently participated in the AVC Men’s Cup in India, where they finished fifth among 11 teams. They are the only team from the AVC Cup to participate in the Kavha Men’s Volleyball Championship.
The tournament is being held at the Garrison Jinnah Sports Complex in Islamabad, with the top teams competing for the championship title.
