A ban on night-time traffic has been imposed on the Narayangadh-Muglin-Kathmandu highway, effective from 10 pm today, due to heavy rainfall and potential flooding.

The Chitwan District Administration Office announced the decision, citing the risk of accidents and disruptions to traffic flow. The office has apologized for any inconvenience caused and has requested the public to keep their vehicles in safe locations.

According to Anil Thapa, chief of the Chitwan District Traffic Police, vehicles traveling from Bharatpur will be stopped at the central bus park, Aaptari, Ramnagar Juggedi, and other areas. Vehicles coming from Kathmandu will be stopped at Muglin and Kurintar, while those coming from Pokhara will be stopped at various locations in Tanahun.

Thapa added that traffic police are coordinating with other agencies to manage the situation and provide information to the public through social media and check posts. Vehicles coming from eastern Nawalparasi will be stopped at Gaidakot, Bhedabari, and Thumsi, among other areas.

The decision to stop all vehicles at 10 pm is in line with the policy of not allowing any vehicles in flood-affected areas. Arrangements are being made to take all vehicles to safe locations by 10 pm.
