Kathmandu. The Ministry of Health and Population has sought clarification from 23 health workers who have been absent from their duties for more than 60 days without taking approved leave.
The ministry has issued a public notice, citing Section 74, Subsection (1), Clause (j) of the Nepal Health Service Act, 2053, asking the employees why they should not be removed from service for being absent without leave.
According to the notice, if the employees do not provide a valid reason for their absence, they may face departmental action, including removal from service, as per Section 72, Clause (k), Subsection (1) of the same Act.
The employees who are subject to this action include those working at Bir Hospital, National Tuberculosis Control Centre in Bhaktapur, Shukraraj Tropical and Infectious Disease Hospital in Teku, Kanti Children’s Hospital in Maharajgunj, and Ayurvedic Hospital in Naradevi.
The absent employees include radiologists, pediatric surgeons, medical officers, nursing officers, hospital nursing inspectors, medical lab technologists, and staff nurses.
The ministry has directed the concerned employees to submit their official explanation within 15 days of the publication of this notice, warning that failure to do so will result in further action as per the law.
