A microbus accident occurred in Rupandehi’s Om Satya Gaunpalika-2, Saraswati Tol, on the Siddhartha Highway, resulting in the death of the assistant driver and injuries to seven passengers.

The microbus, with license plate number Lu 1 Kha 8990, was traveling from Bhairahawa to Butwal when it lost control and overturned on the road at around 10 am on Thursday, Ashar 32, 2083.

The assistant driver, Sandeep Baral, 30, a resident of Butwal Sub-Metropolitan City-3, was seriously injured in the accident and later died during treatment at Bhim Hospital in Bhairahawa.

Seven passengers were also injured in the accident, including Krishna Kumari Belbase, 50, from Siddharthanagar-8; Shraddha Joshi, 34, from Siddharthanagar-8; Prakash Gaha, 19, from Kapilvastu’s Shivaraj Municipality-2; Sunil Thapa, 38, from Palpa’s Ribdikot Gaunpalika-6; Kuldeep Gupta, 26, from Siddharthanagar-3 (Darakhshaba); Shahabun Nisa, 55, from Marchawari Gaunpalika-7; and Hemisara Khancha, 41, from Nawalparasi’s Sunwal Municipality-6.

Among the injured, Krishna Kumari Belbase and Hemisara Khancha have been referred to City Hospital in Bhairahawa and Crimson Hospital in Manigram, respectively, for further treatment. The condition of the other injured passengers is reported to be normal.

The driver of the microbus, Chabilal Thapa, 46, a resident of Tilottama Municipality-6, Ganeshpur, has been taken into custody by the police. The cause of the accident is currently under investigation.
